Natural XL Exquisite Malachite Stalagmite Specimen x 1 from Kasompe, Congo

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION 

Beautiful and Classic Extra Large Natural Malachite Stalagmite Formation. Slight blue Chrysocolla coloration on the side. 10 Stalagmite Fingers growing from the chatoyant base of the Malachite. Very hard to get in this condition. Absolutely beautiful 37 cm long piece with fingers of up to 20 cm long and, just to add a little extra character,  a chatoyant, almost silky malachite luster in the matrix.

Congo was famous for making very beautiful and expensive man made Malachite Stalactite and Stalagmite specimens back a couple of decades ago, (which many folks would have been very upset about when they found out they were fakes!) but, this is VERY obviously Genuine and real and you can see the one or two fingers that have the top of the finger missing (and have recrystallised/self healed) , you can clearly see that these have the full ring patterns inside and are 100% natural. The Previous Geological era breaks with the recrystallisation actually adds significantly to its appeal because of making the rings visible for even more extra character. 

Stalactites are like Tree slices. You can read the age of the Stalactite by counting the rings (very fine rings under a microscope to get the age of this one as it forms fairly slowly)..but the rings represent dry season/wet season, Copper impregnated water forming layers etc. 

Quite the showpiece specimen for the centre of a good Mineral collection. Not merely nice, but superb!!!!
