This is a Huge and rare 34 kg polished Pietersite display showpiece! Swirling blue chatoyant patterns running through this super rare and massive piece. Pietersite is mined in the Outjo area of Namibia and is extremely scarce, and rough material traditionally sells at a minimum of R2 000 per kg. This 34 kg cut is worth much more than the price listed here. Approximately 20% of the piece is chatoyant blue Pietersite running in a pattern of silicified Ironstone of a red gold nature. The blue is Chalcified Silica encapsulating Crocodolite, which creates the chatoyancy. This is an exceptional piece in an exceptionally rare material. This piece would normally sell for R150 000 to R175 000, but because we mined it ourselves years ago, we can offer it for less, while Pietersite continues to become considerably more expensive.
