This Double terminated 10.6 cm Girasol Polished Crystal is why this material is often called "Blue Opal Quartz". Beautifully Pearly lustre with loads of Rainbows and a mysterious hint of blue in the quartz. Aluminium content gives this Rock Crystal Variety its unusual glow.  

"Girasol" was originally called "Durasol" in Madagascar (Originally French "Dura"; everlasting,  and "Sol"; Sun), but an English speaking person misheard the pronunciation and changed it to what they heard on the phone and it has been printed as Girasol since Melody first printed the name in the very famous "Love is in The Earth" books back in the 1980's, that have been very popular and sold millions of copies. 

Girasol, Pearl Quartz, Blue Opal Quartz or Durasol, Everlasting Sun Quartz...doesnt change the fact that it is a most beautiful and unusual quartz variety from Ambatondrazaka Madagascar.
